The 2018 Hyundai Tucson

Safe, comfortable, and well-rounded, the 2018 Hyundai Tucson is a shining example of why the compact SUV segment has become one of the most popular automotive segments in the world. It’s a segment that has found fans in everyone from the single driver to the carpooling mom, from the dad who needs the weekend to haul mulch to the daily commuter. So, what makes the 2018 Tucson the right fit for nearly every lifestyle?

What kind of engine is featured in the Hyundai Tucson?

With responsive steering and a sure-footed feel, the 2018 Hyundai Tucson is composed on the road, and definitely handles better than the average compact SUV.
Three different engines are offered in the Tucson, all with different appeals. The base engine, a 2.0L inline four-cylinder, puts out 164 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque. Power delivery is adequate when you’re running errands around Reading or Allentown, and with 23 MPG city and 30 MPG highway with front wheel drive, it’s an economic choice. Those numbers drop to 21 MPG city and 26 MPG highway if you opt for all-wheel drive which, particularly on the roads across Berks County and the Lehigh Valley, can be useful in the winter time.
Stepping up to the 2.4L engine, paired with the same transmission as the base engine, you get a little more power, with 181 horsepower providing more spring off the line and more confidence when you are merging or overtaking. You’ll still get 21 MPG city and 28 MPG highway, so the fuel efficiency remains about the same. The fuel efficiency of the available all-wheel drive is similar to the fuel efficiency of the all-wheel drive of the 2.0L engine.
While it’s not cheaper to start with, the long-term fuel efficiency makes the turbocharged 1.6L engine a smart financial choice. Paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission, front-wheel drive versions get 25 MPG city and 30 MPG highway. The available all-wheel drive lets you navigate the wet streets of Reading during a summer storm or the snowy hills of Hamburg more confidently, without compromising much on fuel efficiency. The turbocharged engine also provides the most confidence for drivers behind the wheel, with 175 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque helping it to be responsive, any time power is needed.

How much room does the 2019 Tucson have?

The hallmark of a great SUV is being versatile enough to work for whatever you need it for. The 2018 Hyundai Tucson has an interior that is large enough, and easy enough to convert, that you’ll find it useful day in and day out.
Want to take the family over to Cabela’s in Hamburg for a day out, and still have enough room in case they have a smoker on sale? With seating for five, including 38.2 inches of leg room and 39.2 inches of head room in the second row, teens and adults will have plenty of room for short or long trips. At the same time, 31.0 cubic feet behind the second row of seats means you’ve got room for a tent, a grille, a smoker, or anything else you want to pick up while you’re there.
Maybe you need to move a kid to college down in Reading or up to Allentown – whether its Alvernia or Lehigh, the 61.9 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down should be enough space for everything they  for school. It’s also great if you want to haul kayaks for a weekend and didn’t opt for the roof rails, or you’re bringing home a new high-def TV.

Does the 2018 Hyundai Tucson have Bluetooth connectivity?

The modern vehicle keeps you in contact, wherever you roam. The 2018 Hyundai Tucson embodies the connected vehicle, as every trim level from the SEL and up includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration. This allows drivers to utilize menus and apps that reflect the smartphone system they are accustomed to, instead of having to learn a new one specific to Hyundai vehicles. That means easier operation and more time enjoying what your Tucson can offer instead of time spent learning how to operate it.

What safety features come with this SUV?

With a five-star rating from the NHTSA and a 2018 Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS, the 2018 Hyundai Tucson is sturdy and safe, and there to protect passengers in all sorts of situations. Advanced dual front airbags, dual front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, and front and rear roof-mounted side-curtain airbags protect every occupant.
A rearview camera helps you to see what is behind you in the streets of Reading and the parking lots of Allentown, so you know what’s behind you when backing up. A driver’s blind spot mirror is standard on the bottom two Tucson trims, with Blind Spot Detection standard on all other trims. Those trims also include Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross-traffic Alert as standard. Rear parking sensors are available at higher trims levels, while the top trim level can be equipped with Lane Departure Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection.

What are the trim options for the 2018 Hyundai Tucson?

With six trims to choose from, the 2018 Hyundai Tucson is smartly packaged. From the base trim that is sturdy and flexible, to the top trim with all of the features available, you can check out examples of every Tucson trim at Freedom Hyundai of Hamburg.

Hyundai Tucson SE
The 2018 Hyundai Tucson SE is the starter trim, and comes with durable, basic interior upholstery and solid plastics. Cloth seating is standard, and the driver’s seat is six-way manually adjustable. Power door locks and windows are standard, as is a remote keyless entry system with alarm and panic button. A six-speaker audio system is controlled through the 5-inch color touchscreen, and Bluetooth streaming audio and hands-free phone is standard. These can all be controlled through steering-wheel-mounted buttons as well.

Hyundai Tucson SEL
Stepping up to the SEL isn’t a big jump in price, but it brings plenty of creature comforts to the vehicle. It starts with an 8-way power-adjustable driver seat with power lumbar support. Most importantly, heated front seats are standard, to combat the chilly Allentown winter months. The SLE upgrades to the 7-inch touchscreen display audio system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, HD Radio, and SiriusXM satellite capabilities.

Hyundai Tucson Sport
The main difference between the SEL and the Sport trim is under the hood, where the latter features the 2.4-liter engine. The Sport does get dual automatic temperature control with Auto Defogging System and CleanAir Ionizer added, along with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. Proximity Key entry is also included.

Hyundai Tucson SEL Plus
The SEL Plus trim is the highest trim level with the base engine – the Value and Limited trims are only available with the 1.6-liter turbocharged engine. Leather upholstery is standard in the SEL Plus, as is an 8-way power passenger seat, along with all of the features on the Sport trim. An eight-speaker Infinity® Premium Audio System with Clari-Fi™ Music Restoration technology is standard, running through an 8-inch color touchscreen display with navigation. Blue Link Connected Car System is also standard.

Hyundai Tucson Value
The Value trim is extremely similar to the SEL trim, but with the upgraded engine. The only other differences are the panoramic sunroof and the hands-free smart liftgate with auto open and adjustable height setting. This liftgate opens automatically when you stand directly behind the vehicle with the key in your pocket, great for when you’ve got your hands full of bags.

Hyundai Tucson Limited
At the top of the range is the Limited trim. It includes everything from the SEL Plus trim, as well as the hands-free liftgate from the Value trim. Ventilated front seats and heated rear seats are optional, while a heated steering wheel is standard – you won’t have to wear gloves when you’ve got to venture out on a cold winter’s day.

Each of these trim levels has something to offer to drivers on the roads of Allentown, Reading, and Berks County. You won’t find any other dealer in the region that carries as many examples for you to compare and check out as Freedom Hyundai of Hamburg does. So take a look at what we have, get them out on the road to see which is the right fit, and see how a 2018 Hyundai Tucson can be the right choice for your busy life.
