With a brand-new look for 2019, the redesigned Hyundai Santa Fe offers a new look for one of Hyundai’s most popular models, although it was previously known as the Santa Fe Sport. From the front grille to its burly profile, the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe is a matured SUV for a brand that has grown from an upstart to one of the most competitive automakers on the market. The new 2019 Santa Fe is set to create a new benchmark for the midsize SUV market.
How much space does the redesigned Santa Fe have?
Not only has the exterior redesign given the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe a bold new look, it has provided more space and flexibility inside the vehicle as well.
Seating for five is spacious, to say the least. With 40.9 inches of leg room and 39.2 inches of headroom, the rear seat of the Santa Fe is as roomy as the front seat of many compact cars. This means there’s no more dreading riding in the back seat – full-sized adults will be comfortable whether you’re just driving around Hamburg or making the trek from Reading to Allentown for a Lehigh Valley Phantoms game. There’s also plenty of room for tailgating goods like a cooler or grille, thanks to 35.9 cubic feet of cargo space before you even stow the seats.
Sometimes you need to maximize space, to help move a kid to college or bring home some oversized furniture for the house. In that case, the second row of the Santa Fe stows to provide 71.3 cubic feet of cargo space. That’s more than enough to haul everything you need from Home Depot for a weekend of lawn work.
What size engine does the 2019 Santa Fe have?
Most versions of the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe come with the tried-and-true 2.4L four-cylinder engine under the hood. Turning out 185 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque, connected to a smart 8-speed automatic transmission, it is reliable and steady off the line and capable of merging or passing fairly easily. At the same time, it stays fuel efficient, getting 22 MPG city and 29 MPG highway with front-wheel drive, or 22 MPG city and 27 MPG highway with all-wheel drive, the preferred method for tackling wet and snowy Allentown roads in December.
For more confidence merging onto I-78, the 235-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter engine gives a lift. With 260 lb-ft of torque, there is little hesitation. The fuel efficiency doesn’t suffer much either, as with front-wheel drive, you’ll get 20 miles per gallon around Hamburg or 29 MPG on the open road. Going with all-wheel drive, those numbers drop to 19 MPG and 24 MPG respectively, but that’s still reasonable given the power and confidence the engine offers.
What safety features does the midsize Hyundai have?
When you have the space for five people and their stuff, you want the peace of mind to know they’ll be safe as well. The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe sets an incredibly high bar for safety that the rest of the midsize SUV segment struggles to reach.
Hyundai doesn’t feel that simply offering plenty of driver assist systems is right anymore. These systems should be standard, to help avoid accidents. And they put their money where their mouth is with the Santa Fe. Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Safe Exit Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection – all are standard, on every 2019 Santa Fe. The same goes for a rearview camera and the Driver Attention Warning system. Why settle for having to add expensive option packages for safety that should be standard?
Comes with easy to pair Bluetooth!
With Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility standard on every 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe, you’ll be able to use the same apps as you use on your smartphone inside your vehicle. This makes it more intuitive and easier to operate, reducing distraction. Bluetooth hands-free phone and streaming audio, also standard across the range of Santa Fe models, means you can make and take phone calls without ever taking your eyes off of the road ahead. It’s connectivity that is hard to beat, integrated with technology that keeps your focus on the road.
What are the different trims of the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe?
While there are seven trims offered for the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe, even the base trim has plenty to offer. But if it isn’t quite enough, here at Freedom Hyundai of Hamburg we have examples of every trim on site for you to compare.
Hyundai Santa Fe SE
The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe SE trim has plenty to offer, with premium cloth upholstery, a six-way manually-adjustable driver seat with two-way power lumbar, and power conveniences. At the heart of the infotainment is a seven-inch display audio system with steering-wheel-mounted audio and Bluetooth controls. Cruise control is also standard, with steering-wheel-mounted controls as well. Remote keyless entry with alarm and panic buttons makes it safe and easy to get in and get going.
Hyundai Santa Fe SEL
Stepping up to the SEL trim brings plenty of available comforts on board. The driver seat is upgraded to 8-way power adjustability, and both front seats get heating to combat frigid Reading weather. The infotainment system gets SiriusXM capabilities with a complimentary 3-month trial subscription, as well as the Blue Link Telematics System, Blue Link Connected Care Package, and Blue Link Remote Package. The Proximity Key entry with push-button start makes it easy to get in when you’ve got your hands full. On the outside, front fog lights are added, while heated exterior mirrors keep your sight lines clear when there is ice and snow accumulation.
Hyundai Santa Fe SEL Plus
One of the best features added on the SEL Plus trim is the hands-free smart liftgate with auto open and adjustable height setting, making it easy to make use of the class-leading cargo hold. Inside, the Infinity® Premium Audio 12-speaker system with Quantum Logic® Surround and Clari-Fi Music Restoration Technology steals the show. You can help your passengers ride in greater comfort with the standard dual front automatic temperature control with CleanAir Ionizer. Leather wrapping on the steering wheel and shift knob add a touch of class to the interior.
Hyundai Santa Fe Limited
Leather seating surfaces add further luxury to the Limited trim, and the passenger seat gets 8-way power adjustability as well. The better parts of the upgrades are outside – LED headlights, taillights, and front foglights make it easier to see and be seen on the roadways of Hamburg, even on foggy mornings. Premium satin or dark chrome door handles add a touch of class, while a panoramic sunroof opens up to the Pennsylvania sky. The Limited 2.0T trim gets the same comforts and conveniences as the Limited trim – the only difference is the engine upgrade.
Hyundai Santa Fe Ultimate & Ultimate 2.0T
The Ultimate and Ultimate 2.0T trims see the same treatment, with the only true difference being the engine. However, they both come with plenty of upgrades over the Limited trim, including four-way power lumbar adjustability in the driver seat and Integrated Memory System for the driver, so you don’t have to manually reset the seat and mirrors whenever you get in – it’s done through your Proximity Key, all you have to do is use it and everything goes back the way you want it. It’s the perfect solution for a vehicle with multiple drivers. Ventilated front seats and heated front seats means that everyone can be comfortable regardless of the weather – pretty useful if you get one of those special Hamburg days where it feels like we get all four seasons in 24 hours. The Surround View Monitor provides a comprehensive view of your vehicle’s surroundings, while a Heads-Up Display puts pertinent information on the windshield in front of the driver, so they don’t have to look away for driving directions or vehicle information. The Ultimate also comes with wireless charging for compatible smartphones and devices.
